Choose your executor well

Multiple hats of different colours

When making your Will it is important to choose appropriate executors – they should be people you can trust to carry out your wishes.

You should be wary if someone offers to draft your Will on the proviso that they are appointed as your executor.

In most cases this means the executor will charge fees to administer your estate, and these fees are often much higher than a non-institutional executor would charge to perform the same task.

You don’t want your Will to cause distress or extra expense for your loved ones after you are gone, so make sure you consult your solicitor when drafting it.

You can rest easy knowing your Will complies with all legislative requirements, and won’t cause your loved ones significant expense or worry at a time when they will be least able to deal with it.
