ACT government workers
You have workers compensation entitlements under a Commonwealth law called the Safety, Rehabilitation and Compensation Act. This used to be administered by Comcare, but now Employers Mutual Limited (
EML) administer the scheme for ACT Government workers.
We are experts in Comcare and EML claims. For more information, see:
ACT private workers
The main piece of law governing workers compensation is called the Workers Compensation Act 1951. You are eligible for compensation for workplace injuries under this Act if your employment is usually in the ACT. So if you live in Queanbeyan, but mostly work in Canberra, you may be eligible for compensation under this law. Compensation includes loss of wages (at fixed percentages), medical treatment and awards for permanent injuries. There are also benefits due to death of a worker.
Psychological injuries
Each system has >
special rules in relation to psychological injury claims. There is a special rule for psychological injury claims limiting when you will be eligible for compensation. This is the
reasonable administrative action rule.
We specialise in psychological injury claims. We are experts in the law and our experience and knowledge on mental illness enable us to build rapport with client’s and address often complex and nuanced elements of these types of claims.
